U.NAMED_RANGE

Summary

Names a range of cells, removes an existing name, clears names with #REF! errors, or returns a report of all named ranges in the workbook

Syntax

=U.NAMED_RANGE(name, range, [sheet_scope], [comment])

Parameters

Parameter Required Description
name Yes The name to be given to the selected range, or the existing name to be cleared. If not set then a report of all names in the workbook is returned. If set to "CLEAN" then names containing #REF! errors are removed from workbook
range Yes The range of cells to be named. Can be multiple regions if surrounded by parentheses. If set to "CLEAR" then the specified name is removed if it exists. If a string that starts with an equal sign, then name is created with specified equation
[sheet_scope] No If set to TRUE then the name will be created with worksheet scope, so only accessible on the worksheet where the range exists. Default is to make names workbook scope.
[comment] No A descriptive comment to be added to the named range

Behavior

The documented public interface is supported by the current U Add-in source signature and the maintained Usage Examples workbook. Optional parameters are shown in square brackets in the syntax above; omit the brackets when entering a formula.

Return Value

Returns the function result or action status described by the formula and parameters above. The maintained sources do not define a narrower, stable return contract for this function.
