REFERENCE

U.SUBRANGE

Summary

Returns a contiguous subset of the specified range

Syntax

=U.SUBRANGE(start_range, [first_row], [first_column], [last_row], [last_column], [as_range_ref])

Parameters

Parameter Required Description
start_range Yes The data from which a contiguous subset of cells is to be returned. If only a valid topic is provided, the first page of that report will be used unless there is a spaced pipe and page indicator following the topic (e.g.
[first_row] No The label or index of the first row of the subrange to be returned. If not specified then the first row containing any value that is not a blank or an error is the first row in returned subrange
[first_column] No The label or index of the first column of the subrange to be returned If not specified then the first column containing any value that is not a blank or an error is the first column in returned subrange
[last_row] No The label or index of the last row of the subrange to be returned If not specified then the last row containing any value that is not a blank or an error is the last row in returned subrange
[last_column] No The label or index of the last column of the subrange to be returned If not specified then the last column containing any value that is not a blank or an error is the last column in returned subrange
[as_range_ref] No If set to TRUE then a reference to the subrange is returned. By default the values of the subrange are returned. Set to a number to indicate number of row labels to include in result or 2 columns of numbers to indicate number of row and column labels to include in result

Behavior

The documented public interface is supported by the current U Add-in source signature and the maintained Usage Examples workbook. Optional parameters are shown in square brackets in the syntax above; omit the brackets when entering a formula.

Return Value

Returns the function result or action status described by the formula and parameters above. The maintained sources do not define a narrower, stable return contract for this function.

Examples

=U.PAD(U.SUBRANGE(U.SPLIT(B4:D211,{"U.","("}),,2))
=U.SUBRANGE(B6:E12,1,"B")
=U.SUBRANGE(B6:E12,1,1,2,3)

Notes

  • Formula examples are preserved from maintained workbook usage and normalized to the current U. prefix.
  • Complete formulas demonstrate working patterns; they do not imply that undocumented option values are supported.
  • Where maintained sources do not specify every accepted value, default, or error message, this page does not infer one.
  • For functions that perform actions, use a visible trigger or supported block/throttle parameter to avoid unintended repetition during recalculation.
